The Essenza Oni and Frog Taka Maki-e “La Fenice” is an exclusive creation that transforms writing into a sensory, emotional, and cultural journey.

Based on the Essenza model, entirely handcrafted on a manual lathe using Japanese ebonite, this fountain pen features a black lacquer background meticulously decorated in the raised Taka Maki-e technique, hand-painted and signed by Morgan Wisser.
The artwork depicts two iconic figures from Japanese mythology:
– the Oni, a powerful spirit symbolizing primal energy and protection;
– the Frog (Kaeru 蛙), a beloved good-luck charm associated with safe returns and prosperity.
Together, they embody harmony, transformation, and the eternal balance between opposites.

Fitted with a #8 “La Fenice” solid gold nib, paired with a red Japanese ebonite feed made in our workshops, the pen ensures rich, fluent performance.
It features an integrated piston filler with a large 1.5 ml ink capacity, designed and produced entirely in-house, and removable using our dedicated Leonardo wrench.
