The Shiba is an ancient Japanese dog breed, dating back to between 6000 and 300 BC. Its origins are linked to the mountainous regions of the country, where it was used for hunting small animals and birds.
Over time, the breed evolved from hunting dog to companion dog, and in 1936 it was officially recognized by the Japanese government as a “National Monument.”
