The LAMY AL-star was first developed in 1996 and its basic form is derived from the LAMY safari. The LAMY AL-star also features the classically cylindrical form of a pen body which is articulated by two flat surfaces. Not only is this an optical eye-catcher – the flat surfaces also serve as a roll-stop. The high-end aluminium surface is wrapped around a resilient ABS plastic core. This provides the fountain pen more volume while still making it light to hold. A special anodising process smoothes the aluminium yet makes it resistant to nicks and scratches. The unique grip is revealed once the aluminium-coated cap is removed. The inner workings of the fountain pen are also visible thanks to its transparent plastic. The two parallel recessed grips provide a secure hold when writing. The Lamy logo, discreetly engraved at the end of the body, and the distinctive, spring-loaded metal clip at the cap add even more to the pen’s high-end appearance.
